17 Ways To Look Back On Your 2017

I can't believe it, but 2017 is already coming to a close. I feel like only a few weeks ago I was amazed that it's already 2017 as I was saying goodbye to 2016. But here we are now, waving 2017 goodbye. This has been such an incredible year full of ups and downs. I have been trying to look back on my year to soak up all the goodness it has brought to me. I hope you can do the same with at least 1 of the 17 ways...

Go through your pictures- An amazing way to cherish memories is to remind yourself of them. If you’re anything like me, you have an overwhelming amount of pictures in your phone. So, go through them and find some that stand out as your 2017 highlights. Print them out and hang them somewhere. I have been doing this for a few years now, but I use my polaroid and hang up pictures of my friends we take with it. It’s a super simple way to look back on your year and can make for a very cute room decoration!

Think about everything you are thankful for in 2017- Take some note cards and write down what made you most grateful this year. Fold them up and put them somewhere safe. This way, in 2018, when you are feeling down you can open one and remember your past year full of good times.

Find something good in every month- Create a list including each month and write a little bit about each one making sure to include all significant memories!

Create an inspiration board- Put together pictures of outfits and vacations spots you loved in 2017 as 2018 motivation.

Make a playlist- Music is one thing which can bring me through memory lane. Think about your 2017 anthems and put them all together for an ultimate 2017 playlist! I would say you can burn a disk and give it to a friend as a holiday gift...but I don’t think anyone uses CDs anymore (thank you Apple music + Spotify).

Look through your cards- Hopefully you are someone who keeps all their birthday cards, holiday cards, and everything like that. I never throw away my cards because they come in handy when trying to be nostalgic. They remind you of significant times in the year and can put a smile on your face.

Remember your experiences- Hopefully you saved your concert, game, plane, or any other type of ticket. Collect them all and hang them up (I mix them with my picture wall). They can remind you of fun experiences and get you excited to relive them (Lollapalooza)!!

Get crafty- A way to include almost all of these ways to remember your 2017 is a scrapbook! You can include pictures, tickets, and cards. Scrapbooks are very cute gifts and also a good way to organize your memories.

Recycle your calendar or planner: organization meets photo album- I don't have a calendar but I have a planner which I use almost every single day making sure to note all important events or small things like homework. Don't throw away your organized year...add to it! Take pictures or pamphlets or anything you collected throughout the year and attach it to the place you marked the event in your calendar or planner. This is a super cute way to not waste a planner or calendar and it's also an organized way to keep track of your year.

Make a video of highlights- I’ve been talking a lot about pictures, but videos can be just as memorable. I carry my GoPro around with me on vacation all the time to make sure I capture what I can’t in pictures. With your videos, you can make one large 2017 video of highlights, or do specific times maybe a video of one vacation rather than all them combined.

Think about your resolutions- If you can think back to January, write out all the resolutions you planned to uphold in 2017. Check off the ones which you have successfully completed and let the ones which you have yet to do roll into 2018, or scratch them and rewrite new ones!

Make a memory box- Put together all the random items you have collected throughout the year and throw them in a box so you never lose them and they can stick together.

Rewatch your favorite movies and TV shows- Remember your TV memories by going through your “watch again” list to bring back all the feelings of a lazy Sunday morning date with Netflix.

If you’re a makeup person...recreate your favorite 2017 look- You can also do this with clothing or other way of expression you would like.

Tie your year to a scent- Before 2017 is over, burn a new candle for the rest of the year so that when you use it in 2018, it brings you back to 2017. If you already have a scent of 2017 don't lose it!

If you have Snapchat go through your memories- It’s a literal trip down memory lane!

Make a cookbook- Gather all of your favorite 2017 recipes and turn it into a book. You can gift this or save it for yourself...or both!!
