I Escaped To Fiji...And It Was Amazing
Fiji is a mesmerizing place. From the total disconnect from home to the crystal clear waters, I quickly fell in love. I had seen pictures of Fiji taking over my Instagram feed, but the pictures and videos looked too good to be true, almost fake. Yet, when I went there, it was even more beautiful than pictures had presented. And let me tell you, if you think you've seen it's beauty on Instagram...social media does not do the nation as much justice as it should. In real life, Fiji is a whole new level of beauty and serenity. The mornings are warm filled with sunshine and the nights have a little breeze with the most amazing sunset. I spent 6 nights there in 3 different places. My first 2 nights I stayed in the highlands where I took hikes through the forests and swam through waterfalls.Â
My second 2 nights I stayed on the main land where I zip lined, ran through sand dunes, and hung out at a beach. Oh, and met Tatiana Ringsby by coincidence.
My last 2 nights I stayed right on the water on a small island called Mana where I went island hopping and snorkeled.Â
Even though the actual land of Fiji is stunning, I truly believe the people living there are a major factor as to why the nation is so outstanding. Everybody there was so sweet and welcoming. The locals always offered a helping hand whenever possible. Even if they didn't get anything back, helping others made them happy and that was enough. Knowing this, I was so touched because not many people are happy just because those around them are. But, it's a goal we can all work towards. Offer people assistance even if you don't gain from it because making their day better will make them want to help others and it's a positive chain reaction. This is probably why everyone there always has a smile and wants others to have one as well :) So, what did I learn from going to Fiji? Well, I know it's outstandingly beautiful and great for snorkeling. But, I also know that I shouldn't sweat the small stuff and help others even if the only benefit I have from doing so is a smile. Because, smiles are contagious.Â
